What’s Been Happening in Australia in Relation to Sexual Harassment, Discrimination and Bullying from 1 – 7 August 2016

Allegations Directed at Metropolitan fire Service (SA)
A whistleblower has made allegations of bullying and harassment of injured or ageing personnel at the Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS). Injured and ageing workers are considered to be on the “hit list” of the MFS; one former MFS firefighter says, alleging that around 50 injured or ageing personnel had been pushed out of the organisation in the past two years. Allegations made against the MFS have submitted that injured workers were isolated and ostracised, put in rooms alone for the duration of their shift and made to sign in and out when they wanted to go to the toilet. Other allegations included that members were badgered to resign, and that members were assigned no work, or assigned work that they could not perform because of their injuries. Both the MFS and Emergency Services Minister Peter Malinauskas have denied these allegations.
