I was interviewed by the Sunday Times last week and they featured an article on the weekend talking about workplace Christmas parties. A lot of the article was talking about the cash strapped days of the GFC are gone and some companies are wanting to splash out and spend $100,000 on the standout Christmas event to be talked about for 2014!
My comments were far less “fun” and instead looked at the problems that arise at Christmas parties when a lot of alcohol is consumed and people forget they are still accountable for their actions, even when the party is at night time and not at their workplace.
By implementing some simple strategies before, during and after the Christmas party an employer can minimise the risk of inappropriate behaviours occurring.
